The scope in Safaniyah consists of replacing 3 existing drum screens at the sea water intake with 3 new drum screens, providing tie-ins from the new RO plant intake line to existing Sea Water users for operational flexibility, installing a new R.O Plant, Vacuum de aerator package and associated storage tanks. The drum screens scope includes only the replacement of the existing ones with new drums with identical capacities (30000 GPM each); The purpose of the project is to provide an R.O. plant which will produce 1500 GPM of desalinated water (500 ppm TDS specification) which shall be further utilized to produce wash water for crude de-salters, flushing / dilution water and potable water. System main components are:
- Sweet Water Production: 1,500 GPM
- R.O. plant overall Recovery: 39.2%
- Number of R.O. passes: Partial 2-pass system
- Number of RO trains in the first pass: 3X33% (518 GPM each)
- Recovery of the first pass: 40%
- Number of RO trains in the second pass: 1X100% (462 GPM)
- Recovery of the second pass: 90%
- Rejects Flow Destination: Sea
- Water de-aeration system (de-aeration by vacuum)
- Product Water Oxygen content: 10 PPB (after de-aeration)
